A misty morning at Exmoor Punchbowl

If, like me, you’re guilty of only ever having passed through Somerset on your way to Devon or Cornwall, Esen Tunar’s SNAPP Guide to photographing this surprisingly beautiful county in South West England will be sure to make you think again and book in for at least 3 nights next time you have the chance to head this way!

Esen is a Cypriot photographer living and working in Somerset and he’s set about capturing Somerset’s most photographic spots since discovering the joys of landscape photography in 2009.

This is a county that has it all. Ranked seventh in the UK for size, it is has a relatively low population meaning there are vast expanses of open, unspoilt landscapes waiting to be explored.

Somerset is a county of incredible contrasts offering beaches, caves, moors, and levels, not to mention a stunning National Park, Exmoor. It’s home to the UK’s most famous music festival, Glastonbury, where this year 150,000 tickets sold out in minutes. Much-loved brand, Mulberry, has been producing designer leather goods in Somerset since 1971. And of course visitors have been coming to Cheddar for centuries to view the magnificent limestone Gorge and sample the UK’s most popular cheese which originates from the village of Cheddar.
